Our Story
ARK base was born from of a desire to share what we have learnt and experienced working throughout London and the UK alongside churches, and equip churches to increase the impact of their charitable objectives and use their resources more effectively.
In 2016 we started ARK coworking in Kings Cross, partnering with Kings Cross Church to transform a run down Victorian apartment building and create an affordable home for local creatives, startups and freelancers. Over the course of seven years we had the privilege of meeting many people taking the brave step of starting a business, changing jobs, or facing the challenges of working alone. The community steadily grew as like minded people found support and community at ARK. Through bring and share breakfasts, film screenings, coaching sessions and summer BBQs, we made a space for friendships to form and community to flourish, all in partnership with the church staff team working from the same building.
In 2022 we moved into a new building in Kings Cross and started the renovation process from scratch again, this time turning an empty church building into a community workspace and event venue, bringing redemptive life back into the building.
Throughout our journey we’ve met many church leaders or congregation members who long to see their church buildings filled with life and purpose throughout the week.
As a response to the clear need we encountered, we established ARK base.
Our mission:
Supporting churches to increase the impact of their charitable objectives
Restoring church buildings to be more effectively used resources
Helping churches understand the needs of their local community and create spaces and projects for public benefit
We have since worked with other churches to support them as they explore creative expressions of new community spaces.
